Appendix

The appendix is a small, tube-like organ attached to the large intestine in the lower right abdomen. Its function has yet to be completely understood, and it is widely viewed as a vestigial organ. When the appendix becomes blocked or infected, it can cause inflammation and a condition called appendicitis.

Large Intestine Cecum

The appendix is attached to the first part of the large intestine, called the cecum. The large intestine is the final part of the digestive system. It is responsible for absorbing water, electrolytes, and some vitamins and forming and eliminating feces from the body.

Small Intestine Ileum

The ileum is the final part of the small intestine. It is responsible for absorbing nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from the food we eat, which are then transported to the bloodstream.
