Cell Membrane

Under certain conditions only, tiny molecules can get through the selectively permeable plasma membrane. Molecules that dissolve in the phospholipid bilayer can cross the membrane by passive diffusion.

Simple Diffusion

It is the passage of molecules (gases such as O2 and CO2) through a cell membrane without using channels created by integral membrane proteins. It does not require energy, and movement is down the concentration gradient.
