Propeller filament

The bacterial flagellar filament is an extracellular tubular protein structure that acts as a propeller for bacterial swimming motility.

Hook

Hook is the flexible structure at the end of the filament, joined to the basal body which traverses the outer wall and membrane structure.

Basal body Basal bodies are microtubule-based organelles that assemble cilia and flagella, which are critical for motility and sensory functions in all major eukaryotic lineages.
