Point Mutations

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) segments called genes are responsible for carrying instructions to make proteins that perform specific functions in one or more types of bodily cells.

Point Mutations

These occur when a single base pair is added, removed, or altered in a genome. Such mutations could either inactivate or modify the function of the coded protein. They cause different blood disorders, such as sickle cell disease.
