Baby Turtles

A sea turtle nest is many small, round, white eggs in a sandy nest. The mother digs the nest herself in the sand before leaving them to incubate. Hatchlings use a temporary egg tooth to help break open the shell and dig up to the surface.

Turtles

Turtles are reptiles and not amphibians. Their shell develops from their ribs and acts as a shield. They are cold-blooded and oviparous; their young develop in eggs that they lay, hatching several weeks after. None show parental care.
